How did you find your way into the mortgage industry?

I went into it straight out of college. My girlfriend was in the industry, and she mentioned US Mortgage was looking for a Spanish-speaking loan officer. So I said, “Why not?”

What made you decide to become a Loan Officer?

I was fresh out of college with no clue where to begin, and the opportunity was there. Even though I knew nothing about mortgages, I just took the leap!

Looking back over the past ten years, what has changed most about the way you approach your work?

I don’t approach it as work anymore. I approach it as an opportunity to help someone, or a family, accomplish their dream of buying their own home. I’ve learned that God gave me a purpose, and this is it!

What season of your career taught you the most about yourself?

This season right here! Being a wife, a mom for the first time, and managing the life of a loan officer full time. I am learning that life can move fast, really fast, especially with the job we do. It’s so easy to get caught up in the everyday tasks, calls, meetings, and closings, that you miss what’s right in front of you! God is teaching me that I can still do what I love to do but also enjoy the time with my little one and my husband. So I try to manage my time better. Even though some days are a bit different or chaotic, I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. Most importantly, I’ve learned to give myself grace!

Was there a moment when you realized you were building something that would last?

Yes, when I realized this was my purpose in life. I was created to do this exact thing!

How have you earned and kept the trust of your clients and referral partners?

I keep it real! I overly communicate, and I solve problems that may arise.

What has helped you keep going through changes in the market?

My faith and God, because He will never fail me!

What would you tell the younger version of yourself at the start of her career?

You are right where you need to be! Don’t stress. Nothing is a coincidence.

When you think about your legacy, what do you hope people remember beyond your production?

I hope they remember my heart!

What advice would you give a woman who is working to build a lasting career in mortgage?

Work, but don’t forget you still have a life outside of this! And have fun! This is such a fun career if you do it right!
